my first blog

I've never done a blog before but on a whim I've decided to give it a shot and write about the things I'm learning as I try to build my very own small business from the ground up.  A little background on my self, I am a 34 year old husband and father to 3 girls, a 6 year old (7 next week), and 4 year old twins.  I started working in the construction industry at 16 and worked for the same company until about 7 years ago when they went out of business.  Then I started with my current employer where I build cabinets and commercial store fixtures.  I love to build things so I have no problem doing the work however I came to realize a couple years ago that staying with this company was not going to get me anywhere.  So last year I started a small handyman/remodeling service :  Essix Enterprises LLC.  I used Legalzoom to file for my llc and tax id number, opened a commercial account at my local bank, and purchased liability insurance, just in case.  So as of right now I work my full time "day job" and work part time for myself evenings and weekends.  I am currently finishing up a project of painting every room in a couples house.  A few more evenings should wrap things up.
